Moving to Leon

Hey everyone

I did get changed to Leon, it is here by the ocean with a bunch of volcanoes and cool stuff. It is one of the bigger and more modern cities here in Nicaragua, which is a good change for me. I ate some American food for lunch, it was so good! Next Monday I will be eating at McDonald's, the first time in almost 10 months.
My comp is a stud, he has just a month more than me, he is humble and a hard worker and we are going to have an awesome time here in Leon. The church is strong here and the members support the missionaries, so it will be like Matagalpa only better! Sunday Presidente Poncio called me to inform me I am going to be a ZL here.

My last week in Ocotal was awesome!! Thursday Elder Ward and I went to Jalapa, but one of the bridges was in construction, so normally they just have the vehicles cross the little creek, but due to the torrential downpour we had the night before it was a river. So the bus stopped and couldn't cross the river, so Elder Ward and I got the bright idea to cross the river in the back of a pickup truck. But as we were sitting there making fun of this little Nissan that was a 2 wheel drive, saying no way was it was going to cross, but then like the intelligent human I am, we hopped on it to cross. Halfway through the river we were stationary until the current starting taking us, and the water was up to the mirrors. Sitting in the bed I almost fell out and had water pouring in up to my knee. I looked over at Elder Ward and we made eye contact and said in unison "We are going to die." And we were. I was thinking of how that phone call to Presidente would be.

But I know there are angels around us, and somehow this little truck found traction and we chugged right out and onto dry land. I don't think I have ever been so close to death in all of my life, but it was the biggest joy as we are got out of the river.

Saying goodbyes were hard in Ocotal and that day in Jalapa. I am going to miss that place a ton. It was a wonderful time and I learned and grew a ton there and I am super grateful to have served there. But I am soooo psyched to be here.

Love you all very much
Love Elder Morrison
